Why Isn’t Showerbird® a $60 Plastic Bird Shower?

If you’ve looked at bird bathing products online, you’ve probably noticed a wide range of prices. Simple plastic misters and spray bottles can cost very little, while Showerbird® is a premium bird bathing system.

So what makes the difference?

At Showerbird®, we care about companion birds. That’s why Showerbird® was designed from the ground up specifically for them—not adapted from products originally made for plants, bugs, or people.

No mystery plastics or residues.

Every feature was engineered with a bird’s fragile body, delicate feathers, sensitive skin, and highly efficient respiratory system in mind.

Premium Materials Matter

Many inexpensive products are designed to meet a price point. ✔️

If you’re going to make bathing a regular part of your bird’s life, the materials delivering the water shouldn’t be an afterthought. They should be selected with your bird’s delicate skin, feathers, and highly sensitive respiratory system in mind.

304 Stainless Steel Misting Wand

Our misting wand is crafted from 304 stainless steel, a material widely recognized for its excellent corrosion resistance, durability, and long service life.

Unlike many plastic components, 304 stainless steel is non-porous, easy to clean, and designed to withstand years of regular use. It resists rust under normal household conditions and won’t become brittle or degrade like some plastics over time.

304 stainless steel is also commonly used in food, beverage, and potable water applications because of its corrosion resistance and long service life.

The result is a premium-quality misting wand built to provide dependable performance for years.

To further enhance its performance, the wand is electropolished—a finishing process that smooths the stainless steel surface, improves its corrosion resistance, and creates a bright, clean finish that is easier to maintain.

NSF/ANSI 61 Certified Drinking Water Hose

Water travels through the hose before reaching your bird.

That’s why Showerbird® uses an NSF/ANSI 61 certified drinking-water hose with an antimicrobial inner lining.

NSF/ANSI 61 certification means the hose has been evaluated for use with drinking water, helping ensure the materials that contact the water meet established safety standards.

The antimicrobial inner lining is designed to help inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew on the hose’s interior surface between uses. While it does not sterilize the water or replace routine cleaning, it helps keep the hose cleaner than a standard non-antimicrobial hose.

Together, these features reflect our commitment to selecting quality materials throughout the entire water path—not just the visible parts.

Designed for Cleanliness

After bathing, Showerbird® is designed not to intentionally retain standing water inside the misting wand.

Allowing the system to drain and dry between uses was one of many design considerations incorporated during development.

As with any product used around water, routine cleaning and proper maintenance are still recommended.

Carefully Selected Bird-Safe Materials

Every component that comes into contact with water was chosen with your bird’s environment in mind.

Showerbird® wasn’t developed by adapting common plumbing parts into a bird product. It was engineered from the beginning as equipment intended specifically for companion birds.

From the water pathway to the misting wand, every material was selected to provide durability, cleanliness, and dependable performance.

Engineered Cone Misting Tip That Gently Envelops The Bird

Many companion birds naturally bathe in gentle rainfall rather than powerful streams of water.

Showerbird® was engineered to produce a fine rainfall-inspired mist that gently envelops the bird instead of directing a concentrated stream of water at them. The mist settles naturally over feathers, helping create a calmer, more comfortable bathing experience.

Many owners find this provides a more consistent and enjoyable bathing routine than repeatedly pumping a spray bottle or trying to adjust a standard household shower head.

Showerbird® Mist

Built to Last

Quality products often cost more because they’re designed to last longer.

Showerbird® wasn’t built to be disposable.

From the stainless steel misting wand to the quick-connect system, every component was selected with durability and years of dependable service in mind.
