About The Product
What is Showerbird®
You’ve given your bird everything it needs: a cage, food, bowls, perches, toys, ropes, and stands.
Now With Showerbird®, there’s just one more thing to offer—water, the way nature intended.
From rainforests to tropical shores, exotic birds rely on water as an essential part of their daily care.
Showerbird® is an innovative solution designed to bring elements of a bird’s natural habitat directly into our homes with a focus on avian health and well being while stimulating playtime with your interaction.
To make this experience accessible every day, Showerbird® features a quick-connect design for your bathroom sink or shower, allowing you to attach and detach it effortlessly for regular use. No hassle, no complex setup—just a simple, secure connection that brings natural, bird-friendly water enrichment into your routine with ease.
In the wild, birds depend on fresh rain, mist, and flowing water for bathing, feather health, hydration, and daily enrichment. Yet these natural water needs have been overlooked for far too long in traditional pet bird care.
Showerbird® was created with a single purpose: to restore the natural water experience our avian companions instinctively seek. By mimicking the gentle, refreshing conditions found in nature, Showerbird® helps pet birds stay healthier, happier, and more engaged—right where they live.
Showerbird® brings the joy and vitality of the outdoors into your household in a safe, convenient, and bird-focused way.
“Showerbird® — a newly reimagined brand”
What Makes Showerbird® Unique?
Simply attach Showerbird® to your bathroom sink or shower using the quick-connect adapter and your bird is ready for a spa-like rainforest shower 3-5 times per week, or as needed.
Zero Hand Fatigue
Spray bottles and misters require constant squeezing or pumping, which gets tiring fast. Many owners report their hands cramping or their spray pressure fading after a few minutes. Showerbird® provides a continuous, consistent mist with no manual effort. You stay relaxed, focused on your bird, and your bird gets a steady, calming flow of water.
What Materials Are Used For Showerbird®
At Showerbird®, we believe your exotic bird deserves the same level of care, hygiene, and safety that you’d expect for yourself — if not more.
Manufactured using 304 Stainless Steel Food-Grade material; secondary passivation process for corrosion resistance; NSF-61 anti-microbial hose- Made In The USA
Many popular bird shower products cut corners with: Low-grade plastics or metals that can crack, rust, or leach toxins such as spray bottles or pumps Untreated hoses that become breeding grounds for mold, bacteria, and harmful pathogens. These hidden risks can jeopardize your bird’s health, leading to respiratory problems, infections, or long-term exposure to harmful chemicals. While we strive to source all Showerbird components from within the USA, some of our adapters are currently sourced from trusted international partners—the same manufacturers who produce high-quality bath fittings used throughout the industry. By selecting premium brass components, Showerbird® delivers consistent performance while protecting the integrity of the water your bird receives.
Unpackaging- Hose Stiffness
When you first receive your Showerbird, you may notice that:
The NSF-61 certified antimicrobial hose feels stiff and does not bend easily.
This is completely normal.
The hose and wand are made from food-grade, high-quality materials, which naturally makes them firmer when new.
There are no cosmetic upgrades or cosmetic coatings on Showerbirds® NSF-61 Food Grade Hose. It is clear braided and anti-microbial with only your birds health in mind!
How to Prepare Your Showerbird for Use:
Step 1: Connect your Showerbird to the included adapter or your shower diverter.
Step 2: Run hot water through the hose for the first time after unpacking. The heat will help relax the hose, making it easier to shape and position for your bathroom setup—whether attached to a sink or a shower diverter.
Step 3: Gradually form the hose and wand to fit your space. Regular use of hot water will help maintain flexibility and prevent stiffness over time.
⚠️ Important Safety Note:
Never have your bird near the water while you are loosening or shaping the hose and wand.
Hot water can cause burns, so always ensure your avian companion is safely away from the work area until cool/lukewarm water is present.
Is Showerbird® Easy to Set-Up?
5-Minute Setup — Installs once, and you’ll never need to remove it.
Setting up your Showerbird® is quick, easy, and designed with convenience in mind. The hose can be effortlessly connected to your bathroom sink using the supplied custom aerator, or to your shower with the included shower diverter.
Both options allow for a permanent, discreet installation that won’t interfere with the look of your bathroom.
When it’s time for your bird’s rainforest mist, simply use the quick-connect feature on the hose — no tools, no hassle.
When your bird is adequately showered, simply uncouple the unit from the adapter and use your faucet as you normally would. The adapter is convenient and remains attached until the next use.
How Do I Use Showerbird®?
Here’s How It Works
1. Quick-Connect Setup
Attach the Showerbird® to your shower or sink using the included quick-connect adapter.
You can connect it to your shower via a shower diverter with adapter, or to your bathroom sink with the supplied sink adapter — all designed for fast attachment and easy release. One time set up, no major plumbing.
2. Gentle Rainforest Mist
Once connected, Showerbird® delivers a fine, rainforest-like mist from the tip of the wand.
This gentle mist mimics natural rain — much more comfortable and enjoyable for most birds compared to strong water jets.
3. Easy Bird Bathing
Place your bird on its T-stand or perch inside the shower area.
Slowly spray the mist over and around your bird.
The fine mist wets feathers evenly and naturally, helping your bird clean and fluff feathers without fear or discomfort.
Safety Tip:
Please provide your bird with a safe, sturdy T-Stand or perch. Utilizing the non-slip Showerbird® mat under the T-Stand is a recommended safety technique.
4. Ideal Frequency
Using Showerbird® makes it easy to offer your bird a refreshing bath 3–5 times per week — a frequency many bird owners find supports healthy skin and vibrant plumage.
5. After-Bath Care
When you’re finished showering your bird:
Disconnect Showerbird® using the quick-connect.
Point the quick-connect downward toward the drain to let any excess water flow out of the hose.
Hang the hose over your shower rod or towel rack to air dry.
Once dry, place Showerbird® in the provided storage bag so it’s clean, safe, and ready for your bird’s next shower.
The whole system is designed for simple connection, gentle operation, and stress-free bird bathing right in your own shower.
Am I or My Bathroom Going To Get Wet with Showerbird®?
Showerbird® is designed to create a gentle, rainforest-like bathing experience that produces a soft, even mist over your exotic bird.
Showerbird® was designed with an 18″ wand to keep the water flowing over and around your bird. The engineered wand length and distance allows a natural space for flapping and fluttering during showering.
Because the mist is fine and controlled, most of the water stays exactly where it’s intended —on your bird and within the shower space. But, bird enjoyment dictates the splash, -so enjoy your time together!
That said, just like any type of showering, a small amount of residual moisture and splashing is completely normal. You may notice splashes or a bit of mist settling nearby, especially when your bird gets excited and begins flapping, talking, or playing in the water. We recommend wearing a T-shirt and keeping a towel within reach for a quick wipe-up afterward. You may also see a little water dripping into the drain from the quick-connect fitting on the Showerbird® —this is expected and part of normal operation as you an the hose move while bathing..
To help keep your space safe and tidy, every Showerbird® includes a specially designed bath mat that provides slip resistance for both you and your bird.
Overall, the amount of water displaced during a Showerbird® session is typically far less than what you’d experience when bathing yourself. Most users find the cleanup quick and easy, and many appreciate how the misting system keeps both bird and bathroom far drier than traditional harsh shower spray methods.
My Sink Does Not Accommodate The Sink Adapter?
Showerbird® conveniently provides both adapters upon purchase, a sink aerator or the shower diverter for every household use!
Some modern household sinks have changed in design over the years, and not all of them allow a standard aerator to be removed or replaced. Styles such as waterfall faucets, hidden aerators, or uniquely shaped spouts may not accept the included Sink Quick-Connect Adapter.
Because of this, Showerbird provides two connection options to ensure you can still use your system:
Sink Aerator Adapter – Works with most traditional faucets that have a removable aerator.
Shower Diverter Adapter – For sinks that do not accommodate an aerator. All standard household shower arms use a 1/2″ connection, a sizing standard that has remained consistent for many decades. This means the Shower Diverter option fits virtually all showers.
With these two options, you can easily set up your Showerbird system regardless of your sink style.
How Is My Interaction Important With Showerbird® ?
In the wild, bathing is not just a hygiene routine for exotic birds—it’s a social behavior. Flock members often bathe together during rainfall, vocalizing, flapping, and engaging with one another. This shared experience strengthens their social bonds, reduces stress, and reinforces trust within the flock.
Using Showerbird® gives you the opportunity to become part of that natural flock behavior. When you talk softly to your bird, offer reassurance, or simply stand nearby during their rainforest-style mist shower, you’re participating in an instinctive bonding ritual. Your presence tells your bird that the environment is safe, familiar, and enjoyable.
Interacting with your bird during a Showerbird® session can help:
Build and strengthen your relationship through shared, instinctive behavior
Encourage confidence in timid or newly adopted birds
Reduce stress and anxiety, since flock-style bathing feels natural and calming
Promote positive bathing habits, making shower time something your bird eagerly anticipates
Stimulate natural behaviors like preening, vocalizing, and playful wing-flapping
Your bird doesn’t just see you as a caretaker—they see you as part of their flock. By being present and engaged during Showerbird® time, you’re speaking their natural language and honoring the deep social instincts that help exotic birds thrive.
Why Spray Bottles or Pumps Have Limitations ?
Misting often isn’t enough for a “true bath.” Light mist may moisten surface feathers but might not replicate the thorough wetting and cleansing of a shower. That can leave dust/dander or oils trapped deeper in feathers.
Can stress some birds — especially if they dislike being “sprayed.” Some birds may find the noise, motion, or sensation of a spray bottle trigger frightening or stressful — especially if used too aggressively.
Less of a “bath experience” — misting lacks the playfulness and full-body soak birds sometimes enjoy. For birds that enjoy bathing, misting may feel unsatisfying or incomplete; they may avoid misting even if they like showering. Owner-shared showers or deeper water options often yield birds that “volunteer” for baths instead of being coerced.
Why Showerbird® Works Better — Especially For Exotic / Tropical Birds
Because of the combination of naturalness, thorough wetting, opportunity for proper feather maintenance, humidification, enrichment, and reduced stress (when done gently and safely) — shower-style bathing tends to be the better baseline choice. For exotic or tropical birds — many of whom come from rain-forests or humid environments — this kind of bathing aligns with their evolutionary needs and instincts.
Many bird-care professionals recommend offering a shower a few times per week (or more often, if the bird enjoys it), using lukewarm water, and providing a safe, stable perch.
Is Showerbird® Suitable For Big Areas?
For aviary’s and larger areas, additional 3/4″ hose adapters and additional hose lengths are available in our store.
Showerbird® vs. Human Showerhead?
Why Showerbird® Is Better Than a Human Showerhead for Your Exotic Bird
1. Fine, Feather-Safe Mist (Not Harsh Water Pressure)
Exotic birds have delicate feathers and skin.
A normal home showerhead produces high-pressure streams designed for human skin—they can:
Damage feather structure
Cause stress or fear
Push water under feathers in an unnatural way
Showerbird® produces a fine mist, which:
Mimics the light rainfall birds experience in nature
Keeps bathing comfortable and non-threatening
Prevents feather stress and over-soaking
Supports healthy preening behavior afterward
Your bird gets the enrichment of a rain-shower without the risk.
2. Safer, Cleaner Materials for Animals
Showerbird® is made with 304 stainless steel food-grade material and a secondary passivation process for enhanced corrosion resistance.
This matters because:
Birds are extremely sensitive to metals, contaminants, and degraded materials
Household showers often shed micro-debris from plastic, rubber, or low-grade metals
Corroded fixtures can introduce unwanted minerals or residues into the water spray
With Showerbird®, water only flows through non-reactive, food-grade stainless steel—the same grade used in kitchens and medical equipment.
3. NSF-61 Certified Anti-Microbial Hose
Birds are inhalation-sensitive. Mold, bacteria, or biofilm inside a typical shower hose can aerosolize directly into the mist.
The Showerbird® hose is:
NSF-61 certified for potable water
Anti-microbial, reducing bacteria growth
Much safer for birds’ delicate respiratory systems
A standard home shower hose is not designed with birds’ respiratory health in mind.
4. Designed Specifically for Bird Anatomy and Behavior
Human showers are built for standing upright under a heavy spray.
Showerbird® is tailored for birds:
Mist lands at angles that suit perching positions
Even coverage supports feather conditioning
Encourages natural preening and bathing instincts
Reduces fear responses compared to a loud, aggressive shower stream
When bathing feels natural and gentle, birds are more willing to participate and experience less stress.
In Short
Showerbird® is superior because it is designed for exotic birds, not humans.
It provides:
Gentler mist
Safer materials
Cleaner water pathways
Better respiratory protection
Natural bathing conditions
Reduced stress and better feather health
Your exotic bird gets a safer, healthier, more natural, and more enjoyable bathing experience than they ever could under a standard home shower.
About The Bird
How Do I Introduce My Bird to Showerbird®?
Before using Showerbird® with your exotic bird, it’s important to remember that every avian companion is unique.
Some birds will immediately enjoy the fine, gentle mist produced by Showerbird®, while others may take longer to feel comfortable with a new bathing experience.
In nature, many birds instinctively seek shelter under leaves and branches during rainfall until they feel secure. That same instinct applies at home—so patience is key. Never force your bird under the mist or aim the spray directly at them. Instead, begin by allowing the light mist to fall above and around your bird, letting them approach at their own pace.
For some birds, the acclimation process can be quick. For others, it may take weeks—or even up to six months—before they fully embrace Showerbird® as part of their bathing routine. Go slowly, observe your bird’s comfort level, and celebrate small steps of progress along the way.
Showerbird® is designed to mimic a natural, enriching bathing experience—but your bird sets the pace.
How Showerbird® Supports Your Bird’s Health
Regular mist bathing offers several wellness benefits that many avian owners and veterinarians consider helpful in creating a healthier environment:
• Feather and Skin Health:
Consistent access to fine mist helps keep feathers clean, hydrated, and flexible. Moisture encourages natural preening, which can reduce dryness or irritation—two factors that may contribute to stress-related feather issues.
• Supportive for Birds Struggling With FDB:
FDB has many possible causes—behavioral, environmental, nutritional, or medical—and there is no single known cure. However, providing a routine, enriching bath that mimics natural rainforest moisture can help reduce boredom, soothe irritated skin, and support preening habits that may be beneficial as part of a comprehensive FDB management plan guided by your avian veterinarian.
• Respiratory Comfort:
Many exotic birds originate from humid climates. The Showerbird® mist provides gentle moisture that may help reduce the dryness associated with indoor air, heating systems, and low humidity—factors that can impact respiratory comfort in some species.
• Environmental Enrichment:
Beyond hygiene, showering provides mental stimulation. The sound, sensation, and movement associated with mist bathing offer your bird a safe, enriching activity that supports emotional well-being.
• Stress Reduction & Bonding:
The soothing rainfall sound and natural bathing action can help reduce stress and strengthen the bond between you and your bird. Showerbird® allows you to participate in an activity that feels familiar and instinctive to your avian companion.
With Showerbird®, you’re giving your exotic bird the opportunity to experience the natural humidity, gentle rainfall, and calming sensory environment they would encounter in their native tropical habitat—all inside your own bathroom.
Will Showerbird® Cure Feather Destructive Behavior (FDB)?
Veterinarians recommend Showerbird® as a First Step method to your improving your birds health.
Showerbird® provides a simple, natural way to give pet birds the regular water exposure they miss compared to life in the wild. This added moisture can support skin and feather health, which may help reduce some of the discomfort that can contribute to FDB.
FDB is considered a complex, multi-factorial issue. It can result from stress, boredom, environmental changes, medical issues, or nutritional deficiencies, and each bird’s situation is unique. Because of this, there is no single cure for FDB. Our avians in their natural habitat can see rainfall exceed 6-8 foot of annual rainfall. Our birds do not see that in a life time of captivity, that is why Showerbird® was invented.
Showerbird® is designed to provide a safe, enjoyable, and enriching bathing experience that supports your bird’s overall health and well-being. Regular showers can offer a variety of benefits that may help reduce stress and encourage positive behaviors, including:
Promoting healthy feathers and skin: Bathing removes dust, dander, and debris, keeping feathers strong and skin hydrated.
Encouraging natural grooming behaviors: Birds instinctively enjoy bathing, splashing, and preening. Showerbird® allows them to express these behaviors safely and comfortably.
Reducing stress and boredom: Bathing can be a calming and stimulating activity, helping prevent anxiety-related or boredom-driven behaviors.
Strengthening the human-bird bond: Shared shower time encourages wing-flapping, playful talking, and gentle interaction, deepening trust and connection.
Supporting overall health: Regular water exposure helps regulate body temperature, improve feather condition, and reduce environmental dust, promoting respiratory health.
While Showerbird® can enhance your bird’s well-being and provide enrichment, it is not a cure for FDB. Birds exhibiting feather-plucking or other destructive behaviors should be evaluated by an avian veterinarian or a certified behaviorist to identify the underlying causes and develop a comprehensive treatment plan.
In short, Showerbird® can be a valuable part of a holistic approach to your bird’s mental and physical health—encouraging natural behaviors, reducing stress, and creating bonding opportunities—while professional guidance addresses the root causes of FDB.
Is Showerbird® Created For Large Birds Only?
No—Showerbird® is designed for all sizes of exotic birds, from the smallest parakeets to the largest macaws.
Many Showerbird® customers take advantage of bath time by turning it into a convenient cage-cleaning routine for small birds.
While their bird enjoys the soothing rainforest mist in the shower, owners use the opportunity to remove soiled papers, wipe down surfaces, and freshen up the cage. It creates a natural rhythm: your bird gets a relaxing, enriching bath, and you return a clean, refreshed living space back to them—all in one efficient session.
The fine rainforest-style mist created is gentle enough for tiny species, yet effective and enjoyable for medium and large birds alike.
Showerbird® doesn’t rely on pressure or force, so smaller birds aren’t overwhelmed, and larger birds receive the wider coverage they naturally enjoy during bathing. The misting pattern allows each bird to choose its own level of engagement—some may sit calmly in the gentle spray, while others flap, vocalize, or move closer for a deeper soak.
Because it replicates natural rainfall, Showerbird® supports healthy bathing behavior in:
Small birds: Budgies, Parrotlets, Lovebirds, Cockatiels
Medium birds: Conures, Quakers, Ringnecks, Caiques, Senegals
Large birds: Amazons, African greys, Eclectus, Cockatoos, Macaws
Owners of small species especially appreciate how controlled the mist is—no harsh bursts like spray bottles and no risk of over-wetting delicate feathers. Larger-bird owners love the comfortable reach of the wand and the consistent mist coverage.
Whether your bird prefers a light refreshing mist or an enthusiastic, rainforest-style soak, Showerbird® makes bathing natural, calming, and safe for birds of every size.
Using the cage-in-shower method means even the smallest birds can enjoy a calm, secure, rainforest-style bath with minimal risk and maximum comfort.
Is My Home Water Source Safe For My Bird?
This has been a common question in the Showerbird® community for years.
If you’ve already been showering your bird occasionally using your regular household water, you’re actually ahead of the game. Most birds already benefit greatly from the added hydration, humidity, and bathing opportunities, even when the water comes from a standard home source.
Because every household water source is different, it’s important to consider your own setup—but here’s what we do know.
Birds in the wild receive over 6-8 feet of rainfall annually, and bathing is a natural part of their daily behavior. Most of our companion birds don’t experience anything close to that in their life time, which is why Showerbird® exists—to bring that instinctive ritual safely into the home.
To help ease concerns, Showerbird® offers optional shower filters, though most customers feel their tap water is perfectly safe for the short bathing sessions enjoyed with Showerbird. Our system itself is built from 304 stainless steel with an NSF-61 certified hose, ensuring it resists mold, mildew, and pathogens that could otherwise harm your bird.
Below are the guidelines we provide to help you evaluate your own water source:
✅ Most Home Tap Water Is Safe for Bird Bathing
Most parrots and exotic birds can safely bathe in typical household tap water because:
Chlorine/chloramine levels in city water are safe for external contact
Tap water pH (6.5–8.5) is within a bird-safe range
Naturally occurring minerals do not harm feathers or skin
Wild birds routinely bathe in water with far greater variability
For bathing purposes, your water does not need to be as pure as drinking water.
⚠️ When Tap Water May Need a Closer Look
There are a few situations where reviewing your water source is recommended:
1. Well Water
May contain higher levels of:
Iron
Manganese
Heavy metals
Sulfur (rotten-egg smell)
Agricultural runoff
These can irritate skin and feathers when elevated.
2. Very Hard Water
Signs include:
White mineral spots
Buildup on faucets
Calcium deposits
Hard water isn’t dangerous, but frequent bathing may leave mineral residue on feathers.
3. Strong Chlorine or Chloramine Smell
A pool-like odor can irritate:
Nares (nostrils)
Eyes
Skin around the beak
Older plumbing can intensify these scents.
4. Contaminated or Aging Plumbing
Concerns include:
Lead piping
Corroded galvanized pipes
Discolored water
These can introduce metals that aren’t safe over time.
🧪 How to Make Tap Water Even Safer
Best Option: Carbon Filtration
Showerbird® offers a Sprite Slim-Line 2 Shower Filter that helps remove:
Chlorine
Some chloramine
Heavy metals
Organic chemicals
Odors and irritants
This is the easiest way to make water bird-safe without complicating your routine.

What Kinds of Animals Can Use Showerbird®?
The fine mist from Shower Bird is well suited for all birds from cockatiels to macaws, and it’s also excellent for plants and reptiles.
